‘Shoreless Wanderings’ - SOLD - Acrylic and mixed-metal foil on a natural Lightning Whelk from 10,000 Islands. A truly unique art piece, formed and carved by nature and inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi that repairs the broken with gold, attributing value to the journey. The mixed-metal foil that has been gilded on the broken edges highlights the beautiful inner curves that are the strength of the lightning whelk. ‘Gift of the Waters’- 24K genuine gold leaf and acrylic on a natural Horse Conch. A one-of-a-kind art piece, formed and carved by nature, brought forth by my hand and inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi that repairs the broken with gold. The brokenness is not hidden or glossed over, but rather embraced and highlighted, celebrating the idea that it is more beautiful because of the journey. This collectible art shell celebrates both the creative power of nature and the beautiful treasures that come from the sea. 9.5 x 5 x 4 inches
‘After the Maelstrom’- 24K genuine gold leaf and acrylic on a natural Horse Conch. After the Maelstrom' was created for 'Folklore and Fairytales' of the 63rd Annual Permian Basin Juried Art Exhibition at the Ellen Noel Art Museum, Odessa, Texas, USA, and was selected to participate in the show. This past year, as I became more skilled at gilding, I added 24K Gold Leaf to further enrich the piece. 11 x 6 xx 5 inches.
